Reflection: Digital Portfolio/ Web-folio (Oral Presentation)

Finally, we need to do a digital portfolio about ourselves and present it in the class. In digital portfolio, we should include our profile, personalities, education background, curriculum activities and working experiences. It is the first experiences for me to present about myself to other people. At first, I feel shy and awkward to do the presentation. But after seeing my course mates’ presentation, I feel more confident to present my own portfolio. This activity actually teaches me how to be confident during presentation. At the same, during preparing for the portfolio, I have a chance to flashback what I have done before and what I should do in the future to increase my knowledge, skill, and abilities. I also feel that I should attend more extra curriculum activities which can improve my knowledge in different aspect. Anyway, I feel very happy with my presentation.

Reflection: Web Blog

Blogging is a common trend in today’s society. Many people use blog to share their ideas, opinion and experiences with their friends as well as with others too. In English for Career Research, we have been given instruction to create our own blog by our lecturer, Sir Ghazali. Therefore, we have to share our reflection about activities that are conducted in class on the blog. Basically, I have learnt how to create blog and how to blogging effectively. Through blogging, we can share our knowledge efficiently with others. In my opinion, I feel that blogging is a method to improve our self-confident about ourselves and also the information that are provided in the blog. At the same, I think we should use blog for good purposes that can benefit our surrounding people and not to misuse it for any other purposes.

Reflection: Job Interview

Our lecturer, Sir Ghazali has been conducted group job interview in class for two weeks. This is really amazing experiences as I have a chance to interview other students and interviewed by other students at same time. I have learnt that it’s really difficult to answer job interview questions when we do not prepare for it earlier. We should predict the questions that we may get and prepare the answer accordingly. In real job interview, we obviously need to prepare a lot such as gathering some information about the organization, about the job and have a clear picture of our own KSA. I also get to know that good dressing is vital for any job interview in order to create a good first impression. Overall, we need to be confidents in answering question but not over confident. If we are stressed or nervous, it might be spoil our job interview.

 

Reflection: Job Application Letter

I think every University students need to get used to job application letters because it will help them when they are applying job in future. Writing a job application letter is not as simple as we think because it has appropriate format and language. Again, I have learnt how to write a job application from our lecturer, Sir Ghazali’s instruction and the book “English for Class Research class”. Therefore, a job application letter will introduce our resume or CV when applying for a job interview. It becomes a foundation for us to convince our future employer that we will meet the requirements of the jobs that are offered. Therefore, I feel happy and relieved that I have learnt about job application letter which it’s really going to be useful for me in future especially when I applying for a new job.

Reflection: Curriculum Vitae

Although before this, I have heard about Curriculum Vitae, but this is very first time I have the opportunity to write my own CV in English for Career Research. Basically, CV includes personal details such as name, address, telephone number, marital status, hobbies and interest, references, skill, personal details, career goal, gender and so on.  On this moment, I should thank to our lecturer; Sir Ghazali for giving us an opportunity to learn how to write CV. Since, there are many samples in the book “English for Class Research”, so it’s not that difficult for me to write CV based on the guidelines given in the book. As I have experienced on writing my own CV, so I will not be hesitated to write my own CV especially when I’m applying for a job. In fact, I will be more confident to write a good CV.

Reflection: Myline

Myline is one of the class activities in English for Career Research . In Myline activity, we have to give our own opinion about two issues that posted in the forum. We have a choice to either agree, disagree or neutral to the statement posted by the writer. Personally, I feel this activity is good as it is able to make me to think more critically in the order to my express my ideas. Based on this activity, I’m able to know that everybody has different thinking style towards a problem in their life. It’s very difficult to assume that everybody has the same opinion on issues. Besides that, the issues that are posted on the forum are actually related to my life as a student. So, I’m quite excited to share my ideas on that forum and express my ideas in right way. This type of activity will improve our thinking ability…..

Reflection: Career Exploration

My group is given an assignment which is to choose a company and find the basic information about company. At the same time, we also need to interview a professional who is working in HR field. To complete this assignment, our group went to Capaian Aspirasi Sdn Bhd (CASB) which is located Johor Bahru. We have been interviewed HR Executive, Mohd Farhan Bin Sarom. We have gathered so much information about HR executive jobs from Mr. Mohd Farhan Bin Sarom. He shared his experiences to become a HR executives with us. At same times, he provides some advices to us. For example, he told us not to or try not to attend the practical training in the government sector because there will be nothing much we can learn. Therefore, we should try to do practical training in private sector so that it can help us when we apply job in the future. I think its wise advice.

Reflection for Oral Presentation (Digital Portfolio)

Five minutes and then you go babbling until out of a sudden the time is up! Then you began to think back, what had you said in front of the audience? Had you really presented what is necessary? Or did you just stand in front and said it out loud word by word whatever you had written on the slide?

Five minutes and that's all. Not more than that. Quite difficult for me if you asked me.

Throughout my studies in UTM, I had never been given a specific time when it comes to presenting in front. Therefore, I (as well as the rest of my friends) would tend to present every single things that we had written on our slide. It will pretty much depending on how many slides do we have. If there is only few slides, then the time we need to present would be less compared to those who have more than 35 slides! (Just a random number by the way!).

Thus when it comes to this digital portfolio presentation, I am quite nervous. First, it may be due to the lack of preparation that I had as I am the person who are quite laid back when it comes to presentation and secondly, because I don't know what to talk in front of the class (okay, also due to the lack of preparation that I did)! So I was like, "Just go with the flow!" and pray hard that all will went well.

And it did went well! Very well, mind you.

(You noticed how when you just go with the flow and everything came out perfect in contrast to when you had spent hours trying to plan and prepare? Yep, life is like that.)

 So from this whole 5 minutes of fame, I've actually learn a lot! Most probably in terms of what are the most important, the most crucial, the most essential information to disseminate to the audience. Not every single thing should be presented because then it would bore the audience. The only thing that you should bear in mind is that just present the best quality that you have (referring to the digital portfolio presentation). If you happened to be the student ambassador for a certain NGO then present it with proud to the audience because in the end, the main point of this digital portfolio presentation is to market yourself to potential employers, and if you are not proud with your achievements, then who will?

Reflection for Digital Portfolio

The first moment Sir Ghazali Bunari assigned the class to do this digital portfolio, the feelings that I had was excited. Yes, I was excited to be assigned to do such task. A digital portfolio, where we are free to create our very own portfolio to market ourselves to potential employers out there as creative as we can? Do whatever you want? Are you serious? Yes, that was in my mind but to be honest when the time flies, and the due date plus the presentation day is nearing, I was like, “Why oh why do we need to create a digital portfolio? Such nuisance, you know!”

So here I sit in front of my laptop and trying to reflect the task that I had finished last Tuesday (18th December 2012), remembering back what inputs and knowledge had I gained during finishing and completing this digital portfolio. There are several benefits that I gained though, and first, I must say that I am convinced now with my ability to create cute and pretty slides. I can play with colours, mix here and there and voila, a very cute presentation slides indeed! So proud if you wanted to know the truth. Even though there are several classmates who had gone all out and produce their very own digital portfolio using Prezi software, flash and videos, but I still want to say that my PowerPoint is not that bad at all. But still, Kudos to everyone because we can produce a unique and one of a kind portfolio, compared to the bland resume.

Other than that, I also learned during the presentation of this digital portfolio about the art of presenting what is more important rather than presenting the whole slides. Being given only 5 minutes to present, it was quite a challenge because normally the students would stand at the front and talk about every single things written on the slide thus the time given was not sufficient enough. Therefore, from the 5 minutes given, I know what to present, what to explain and what to elaborate further.

In conclusion, this digital portfolio had given me a new experience and knowledge that can be used for the benefits of the future! YAY! :D

Reflection on Career Exploration (Interview)

The career exploration task requires the students to go out and meet people that they want to interview regarding the job that the interviewees are working at the time being. At first, finding the right person to be interviewed is quite difficult because we need to find someone who is not working in the government sector, plus several private companies are not that opened and being pessimistic when it comes to being interviewed. These private sectors are all private and confidential even though this kind of interview that we were conducting is relatively normal and pretty basic. It's not that we were asking really confidential questions as we also know the limits on what to ask and find out in the business industry. 

Other than that, after finding the right person, the other issues that might arise would be to keep the interview on track with the purposes as our respondent tends to talk a lot when given the chance. So it is quite a challenge to keep the interview on track plus to keep up with the time constraint (because we did the interview around 5.00pm). But overall it was quite a new experience for me. To do this task along with four of my group members, it opens up my eyes to see things from a different perspectives altogether. I believe that the experience I get from this can be very beneficial when the right time comes.

In the digital web, I need to be more creative. I decided to use powerpoint as my presentation web folio. 

In addition, I also include many animation, variety of picture, bright colour to attract audience hear my presentation.  Furthermore, I also learn new things to make my powerpoint as a system.

If given the opportunity in the future, I would like to make a presentation folio website using flash.  Because when see flash from Dewi and Syafiq, I really like that flash.

Besides, I am more creative and create the elements, attractive presentation that I am doing to attract the audience.  i hope i can improve my web folio in next time to be more great.

In oral portfolio, we need to present our portfolio in five minutes.  For me, it was quite challenging because not only do we need to present our portfolio, but also how to attract the audience.

In this activity, I see a lot of creativity slide that make from others friends. 

In addition, it taught me to be more creative in presentation and improve my communication skills. Other than that, it help me to more practice and reduce my nervous. 

Furthermore, it increases my confidence in doing presentations in front of people.

Reflection on Curriculum Vitae

The curriculum vitae are like the proposal that was promoting ourselves to be given to the companies when applying jobs. We can put all the information and activities of ourselves as it can attract the interviewer. I learnt on how to do the right CV and also the lecturer has showed us with other types of creative CV’s that was created by other people around the world. From that, I also know that the CV was not necessarily made within the paper but it can be done in many other ways too. I think that this task is the most important topic because from the CV, the interviewer can make the first impression on us. 

Reflection on Job Application Letter

When we want to apply a job, it is important to write a formal letter that was suitable with the job. The letter might not same as the real formal letter but still it is a formal letter for job application. The letter must short, simple and have all the points that we want the company to know about us. We also must show that we are really interest with the job position that we want to apply, so that the representative of the company will be interested to take us for interview. Besides that, the content must follow according to the organization’s need. Overall, I am satisfied because in this topic I can learn on how to write the correct formal letter.

Interviews that we conducted in this semester is mork interview and interview in Johor Land.

Conducting interview in Johor Land, I learned to communicate with people outside and deal for the interview session. This experience must be experienced on its own so that we can learn something from this experience.

In an interview,  I have mork interview and  the process  interview was evaluated by my lecturer, Sir Ghazali.

The experience I get is I can feel the picture early in the actual interview process. Besides, I can, look great friends in this interview session and can make as an example to improve myself..

Furthermore, I was able to increase my self-confidence when communicating in formal conducting interviews. Clothing and preparations prior interview I also learned from this activity.

I also feel the experience of being an interview and the interviewee.  I also must always make a revision and practice to make process of interview not nervous.

This semester, I got two subject that requiring us to make reflection every activities in the blog.  the subject is English for Career Research and Human Resources Information System.


I is the first learner that start to learn how to make and post to the blog.  This is because, before this, I don’t have any blogs.  So, it’s a new experience to me.  I become more love to blogging and share my experience.

Other than that, this blog help me to remember what I have done in class.  It also give me the opportunities to share my experience and also give me new inspiration in making reaction in blog.

In addition, it also improve my writing skill and communication with classmate in blogs.

REFLECTION : APPLICATION LETTER

Everyone knows to writing letters. But in writing a job application letter, it is a little different. Because it has a format that we need to follow in writing correctly.  When first time I do the letter, I refer to the book as guideline.  I also do many mistakes and Sir Ghazali teach use how to make the correct letter application in class. 

I still remember Sir Ghazali said that the first order, the letter should be appropriate for the selected job. Next is to be linked to the achievement of educational information and applied work. The third is, the letter should be creative than others in terms of the use of language that may be attracted to the phrases used by people who read it.

It also increase my writing skill and also experience to make the letter.  This class very helpful for our preparation in apply job. 

REFLECTION : CV

This was my first experience writing and producing a Curriculum Vitae (CV).  Thanks also go to Sir Ghazali because teaching us and giving us the idea of producing a creative CV.  Thank you also to Career Research book because give guideline and good example for producing good CV.

Honestly, it is difficult at the beginning to produce a CV only two pages.  But after being given instructions and we only need to enter only the information that is important to prepare my CV can be conveniently.  At the end, i can produce my own CV with my own creativity.

Experience in the subject, so help me to prepare in the future to produce good CV.  I always remind myself to make my CV attracted for who those read  my CV.

REFLECTION : MY LINE

This is the third time I answering MyLine.  My experience in answering previous MyLine that is semester before is the questions are multiple choice questions and after finish answer the question, we will know our score. 

MyLinE this semester are different because we have to choose two from the three topics provided. Furthermore, we need explain what we understand from the topic based our understanding. 

The topic that I choose is emotional intelligence in workplace and fresh graduates with an attitude.

At first it is difficult for me to explain on the topic but after making reading and other sources, I can comment it based my understanding.

MyLinE experience taught me about understanding, creativity in commenting on issues, learning from website and improves my writing skills in English.

Reflection on MyLine

MyLine provides the opportunity for me to give my opinion on the topics that were provided. I have to choose two topics from the three topics that were in MyLine. From there, I can give my opinion, and recommendation about the current issues. It was interesting since it has acknowledged me about the current issues that were happening around me nowadays. After doing MyLine, I have tried to find the issues related with the forum to add my knowledge. Overall, I was happy when doing MyLine because it can improve my knowledge on current issues. 

Reflection on Interview

I was in the second group during the interview session. My group consist of five students and our interviewers also consist of five students. Even though the interviewers were all my friends, but the feeling was still uncomfortable and I am still nervous. This is because I was quite shy when talking face to face with the people that I do not know. The questions were really challenging especially the last question which comes from the lecturer. The question was testing the mind and I must be really careful during answering the question. The answers must be precise and clear so that the interviewer won’t feel bored and not confident with us. Overall, this interview session has taught me on how to be prepared when I was about to go to the interview at the company. 

Reflection on Digital Portfolio

I am not a creative person and this task was quite hard for me because I do not know on how to decorate my portfolio. I was using the basic way to present my portfolio which is the Power Point. During the class, I was amazed with the work of all of my friends because they were very creative and I was jealous with their work. But, I also glad that this task has introduce me with the application that I may not know in the Power Point such as hyperlink. Overall, I was happy because I get to know all the information of my friends such as their background and all the success that they have gotten in their life. 

Reflection on Oral Portfolio

This task requires me to speak in front of my classmates and the lecture. My portfolio was divided into five parts which are About me, Educational Background, Academic Samples, Co-Curricular Activities and Working Experiences. Because of my digital portfolio was not really interesting, so I was not really confident with my presentation. But, I try to give my best when presenting it because I need to put away all my nervousness and going through with the presentation. Overall, I need to improve my presentation skill when presenting in front of people because I will need to use it when entering the future working environment. 

Reflection on Blog Task

The blog is using as a platform and medium to submit our assignment and reflections on what we have learnt in the English class. I think this way is efficient because nowadays, people has been using internet in their daily life. But still, using the internet has its own weaknesses. Not the entire place in Malaysia has internet coverage. Even though it has weaknesses, but I think posting at the blog should be expand as it was easy and does not costing the students. 

MY REFLECTION OF BLOG

Blog.  For me, it is one of the interesting medium for people especially teenagers to express their feelings, their opinion, their experience, so on and so forth.  I have intention to make a blog before this, but I have no time.  And by this subject, I have opportunity to have a blog account.  It was great.  At the beginning, it is difficult for me to explore the blog.  At the end, I am still not an expert people, but at the mean times, I know to use the blog, know to post the assignment and know all the basic things.  Maybe, after this I will make my own blog. Thanks for this subject, because make me and my friends to do a blog and I gain a new knowledge.  

MY REFLECTION OF DIGITAL PORT FOLIO

                      I love this assignment, it’s like an opportunity for me to introduce myself to others, and it also make me know myself better.  In this topic, we are required to make our port folio by using digital methods.  Basically, there are a lot of methods that I can use.  But because of some technical problem I can’t download the software, and so I just use the power point.   And again, I love to do this power point with my creativity.  I play with the colours, the font the design and so on.  During the presentation, my slide was change smoothly, even though I did not put the effect but I satisfied with my work.   These topics help me increase my knowledge in using power point, during test and error. 

MY REFLECTION OF ORAL PORTFOLIO

            Actually, I am not prepared to do this oral portfolio due to some activities that I need to do before this career research class.  We are requiring presenting about our profile, our personality, our education background, and our co-curriculum activities. But, I already do the best.  For me, during the oral portfolio I deliver the point with the confident, I manage to finish my slide, and I speak with the loud voice.  But, the times given it’s not enough for me.  There a lot of things that I want to say, but due to the limit time I need to speak very fast and skip a few point.   Basically, this oral increase my confident to talk in front of others. 

MY REFLECTION OF MOCK INTERVIEW

                   Interview is a final stage to get the job.  During interview, there have question and answer session, and candidates will be asking regarding general knowledge and question about creative thinking.  Interview is crucial stages, because it will show our confident level, our communication skills, our appreance, our personality so on and so forth.  To go to the interview, candidates should be prepared enough, so that it will easily answer all questions and be able to catch employer’s attention.  During mock interview in the classes, I got the experience to be interviewers and interviewees, and of course to be interviewees, my feeling was mixed and I felt so nervous.  But, I try to calm and answer the question with confident.  Generally, these topics give me some experiences to be interview, because before this I never had this kind of experience.  And, of course I will apply what have I learnt in this class during interview later.  

MY REFLECTION OF MYLINE

The things that I get from myline activities are, I can give my opinion directly on the topic that had been discuses.  There are 3 topic which is each topic require student to share some knowledge, give some idea and some recommendation to the topic.  It is similar like a forum which is able to every student to give their opinion on the topic that been discussed.  Instead, the topics in myline give general knowledge to me, because the topic that had been discussed is about current issue that happened nowdays.  Through myline also, I know the program and contest provided by Ministry of Education.  

MY REFLECTION OF COVER LETTER

                         Cover letter is one of the most vital documents when applying the job.  What I have been learnt during lecture are the cover letter as a personal representative to employer.  Which is, there include personal statement.  In cover letter, we will state about our strength, show our organizational skill, show our interest to join that company and proclaim our creativity.  Basically, cover letter is the ways to show the qualification regarding the position that we apply.  So, refers to cover letter, it will save the employer time.   By this topic also, I learnt on how to write the formal letters, and I learnt to use the suitable word to attract the employers. 

MY REFLECTION OF CURRICULUM VITAE

                    Curriculum vitae is important for those who seeking the job.  Based on this curriculum vitae, employer will be informed all the detail of information regarding the candidates.  Normally, curriculum vitae are the first stage for the employer to choose their candidates, they will go through the candidates resume and they will select the suitable one for the position.   In class, I have learnt how to prepare the curriculum vitae that can attract employer attention.  There are many ways to do the curriculum vitae and it based on the position that we want to apply.  Initially, I think that we must put all the details of information regarding our activities, position held, result, so on and so forth in curriculum vitae.  But now, I understand that actually we just need to put only the important information and the pages require only two.  This is to facilitate the employer to make choice.   These topics help me much in preparing resume for future use.

My Reflection on Interview

I had my interview session during the second day. Before this most people are nervous when doing an interview. I have never experienced the situation and when the time is coming, of course I am really nervous even though my interviewers are my friends and a lecturer. What have I learned was I must confident with myself and when answering the question. I also must prepare what I want to talk about so that I will make it short and cleared. Sometime interviewers do not like to hear all the things that sometime is not related at all. Thus, after this, when I am having an interview session, I must be prepared. Google all the sample questions so that I may answer it better. 

My Reflection on Digital Portfolio

My digital portfolio is using a PowerPoint slide. Actually I am not creative but still I have to try to be creative. When making the slide, I know how to use the hyperlink. Even though it is too late, but I am feeling happy to know that. When the presentation class, I have seen my friend’s PowerPoint and I am amazed. They are really creative and I want to learn that. I hope I can creative like them. I am really enjoy with their portfolio and had known the better because I had known their profile, education background, their personality and so on.  

My Reflection on Oral Portfolio

In this activity, I am presenting my portfolio. My portfolio consists of my profile, education background, achievement and working experience. Actually I am not really ready with my presentation but I try my best to present my portfolio. With this presentation I have gain more confident to speak in front. I also learned how to make sure that my presentation is attractive so that my friends will get attention with my presentation. Even though I am not really satisfied with my oral portfolio but I will improve it with these weaknesses.

Mt Reflection on Blog Task

Our English class has a blog which is the platform to us to send our reflections. Using this blog is very efficient where it does not costing and easy. Sometime when we want to do an assignment, we must spend some money to print it, bind it and so on. With this technological area, all these things are using internet, so, why not we apply it in our assignment like what English Career Search class did. Just post our reflection on the blog. I think this is the easier way for us to submit our assignments. 

My Reflection on Job Application Letter

Job application letter is a letter that we provide when applying a job. To do the letter, we must identify first which company that we want to apply.  What I have learned is the letter is not exactly same with the formal letter but it is still formal letter. In the letter, at the end of the address cannot put the comas except in the middle of the address. The content must make it short, simple and detail. I must put the important things so that what we need is tally with what they want. 

My Reflection on Curriculum Vitae

My reflection is about curriculum vitae task. This is the first time I am doing a curriculum vitae and I have learned how to do it. Firstly, I refer to the textbook. But then, lecturer had showed us many kinds of creative resume and encourage us to do a creative resume when we want to do curriculum vitae later. Doing a curriculum vitae like a paper that promote myself to get a job. So I must make my curriculum vitae more attractive so that the interviewer will focus on me and I will get more attention when being interviewed. 

REFLECTION OF BLOG TASK

Assalamualaikum...

            As for me who already have experience in writing blog, it will lead to no difficulties to manage the blog special for English.  This is because basically, I knew how to use blog.  Our lecturer, Sir Ghazalli asked us to create own blog for the purpose of posting some of the assignments in the blog.  Using blog actually will not lead to any problem since now we are in globalization era which power of internet is now only in our hand.  But sometimes the problem exists due to internet connection problem.  But, overall I think blog is another way used that I guess is relevant nowadays.  Students are now freely to submit assignment through blog without any payments. It also help us to share knowledge easily.

REFLECTION TOWARDS DIGITAL PORTFOLIO

Assalamualaikum..

            When it comes to digital portfolio, we are actually allowed to use any method to present portfolio besides than power point.  For example, we can use Flash to present our portfolio.  This can encourage our creativity to present portfolio.  Recently, I only used power point to present my portfolio.  I was not so happy with my digital portfolio because it is not attractive enough for me or maybe for the audience.  This is because the ‘hyperlink’ I made also was not working during the presentation.  It happens maybe because too much hyperlink until I forgot when and where I need to click to go to continued slide. It actually showed that I not mastered the slide.  So, for the improvement later I can use another kind of medium to present my portfolio and improve the skills of using power point.

REFLECTION TOWARDS ORAL PORTFOLIO

            I was not felt so happy with the way I presented my digital portfolio.  This is because I am not really ready to present it actually. I believed I have gained some confidence at the beginning of the presentation but it lost as I looked my power point was not so good to be presented.  It was the common kind of presentation using power point.  Later on, I should use more creative way to present my portfolio.  For example, I can use flash to present my portfolio.  This actually can help the interviewer to be attracted with my digital portfolio.  Not only that, make yourself prepare if you want to gain confidence while presenting the portfolio later.  Besides, make sure you already master the content of portfolio in order to help you to present portfolio smoothly.

REFLECTION ON LETTER OF APPLICATION

            Honestly, I only know that we need to have some kind of letter of application when we want to apply for a job.  From the class, I knew how to build letter of application.  Lecturer also taught me on how to design letter of application according to right format.  Letter of application must mention about the position offer by company. Then, it followed by skills or experience gained that individual can share as long as it related with the position that we want to apply.  Lecturer reminds us not to be too boastful while you were sharing your experience as it can show your bad personality.  It will lead the interviewers to think twice before take you as their employee.  So, let us sharing our experience in a manner way and not too over and admit you are the best whereas your personality show otherwise.  So, be ware with word we are using in job application.

REFLECTION OF CURICULUM VITAE (CV)

            There are many examples of layout of curriculum vitae (CV) if we search it in internet.  Honestly, I have my own resume as I had submit it for the purpose of applying part-time job in SPACE UTM.  But, I modified a little bit in content and updating the CV because it was the CV that I made since last year.  Through class, Sir Ghazali taught us on how to build CV.  He did mention what should include in resume and what should not be include in it.  Sir also mentioned about the right arrangement of the job experience in CV.  He said, we need to write the latest of experience in working at the top and follow by old working experience.  We actually can create a creative CV.  But it depends on what job that we are applying with.  For example, if we are applying a job of professional photographer, we can submit printed CV in the form of DSLR camera.  That is how we can present our creativity through CV. 

REFLECTION TOWARDS MYLINE

Assalamualaikum..

            Whenever lecturer of English subject ask students to assignment through Myline, it may lead to feel like “OMG, I am so lazy to go to Myline website”.  It just like a ‘hard task’ for us when it comes to ‘do assignment in Myline’.  But actually, there are some advantages of doing assignment in Myline website.  Only after we were ask to do assignment in Myline we know the existence of Myline website.  Besides that, through Myline we can know current contest publish in Myline held by Ministry of Education.  In terms of task, we are required to response with two topics out of 3 topics selected by lecturer.  I selected 2 topics which are 1) emotional intelligence in workplace and 2) Fresh graduates with an attitude? I did explain my point of view in that topic selected.  I also include some of the examples for the topic to increase the understanding.  

REFLECTION TOWARDS MOCK INTERVIEW

Assalamualaikum..

            I am sure, only certain of students did experience in attending interview in an organization to apply for a job.  So that, for those who are not yet attending any interview before, may face some difficulty for mock interview task.  It same goes to me because I only have an experience in attending interview to join a Human Resource Development Club (SMART) in UTM.  I have no experience in attending interview that related to applying some job.  So, during the interview session, I am totally nervous and sometimes it will lead to blank at all.  But, the key to avoid nervous is by fully preparing yourself before the interview session.  Honestly, I guess most of us were too aware in answering the questions because they know all the response will be rate by the lecturer.  This kind of behavior may not help them to present their ideas well.  However, overall of the mock interview sessions is fine.  It just us that need to do something to improve the way how we answer the interview questions as it will prepare us to face the real interview later.

reflection of interview session

Last few day, we having an interview session with our class members as well as our lecturer’s mr.Ghazali in this interview session we were supposed to be in group of five person then sit for an interview in order to get a job. The best person will get the job. Unfortunately I did not get it. But I’m not really upset because instead of getting a job during the interview actually I got more knowledge during the lesson. Firstly our group become interviewies, we need to answer all the question with appropriates to the question and must show our interest to the company as well as confident while speaking to them. It very hard because we will feel so nervous then need to think about the best answer. But we face it with all the effort as we can. After that, we take place as an interviewer and ask question to others. These experiences seen to be really useful to me. I hope in the future I will practice it more before attend to a real interview. 

reflection of oral portfolio

After finished doing a digital portfolio about ourselves we need to present it in front of class members. It seen hard to us because we need to do it in 5 minutes. May be to other not enough time to do so but for me I am very nervous because it still be my weaknesses to do so in front of many people but I had put my best effort to present my portfolio. As you can see, if we put much effort in doing something, we definitely will be success. Speaking in front of the public can increase my confident level and this is important when I’m entering workplace in the future. As a HR we must always speak in front so here it the best way to practice. As we all know, practice make perfect.

In the class, we were asked to do a digital portfolio about ourselves. We were given a week to do so. We must do it in the best way and make it interesting. It that digital portfolio we are suppose to jot down our personal detail, our qualification, skills and our achievement. We can do this digital portfolio by using many ways such as power point, movie maker, flash and so on. For me, I just do it by using power point and add on some animation on it to make in more interesting. The purpose of doing this is to build a many types of interesting presentation instead of black and white slides only. The interesting portfolio can attract more attention from the participants. Students also can show their creativity on that. They can put whatever they like that can reflect their personality.

Based on what I had learnt in curriculum vitae, I had gain many useful knowledge. Firstly, what is a curriculum vitae? Actually curriculum vitae or CV is a written document that briefly and accurately describes your personal, educational and professional qualifications and experiences. CV is important when we are sitting on an interview. When we want to sit in an interview, the first thing that we should had is CV. This because CV is actually some sort of our life, it describe what we had done before, what skills that we have and our qualification of that job. Everything is about our life, we can put it on our CV but we must make sure that we were minimized the sentences because CV is not an essay. A well written CV is an extremely powerful form of communication that makes a good impression of you and eventually increases your chances of getting a job.

Blogger is a medium to gain new knowledge in this new era. Many students tend to have their own blog then in the free time they write on the blog what they have learnt and also their opinion on that topic. My lecturer, Mr. Ghazali also do the same way to us. We are suppose to create a blogger then write a reflective on what we had learnt in the class in that blog. This is new learning approach to us but we are quite exciting to do that. Blog can help us many way. We can jot down our opinion and another people can read it without any payment. This seen easy to share knowledge as well as to gain knowledge. Blog also can be in many different unique wallpaper that can attract others to learnt instead of text book that only in white and dark. So my opinion, everyone should try to use this approach which is study via blogger.

Based on what we learnt in chapter writing letter of application, I found that it was really useful to me. As I had never do it before because I had never went to a part time job, so for the first time doing it seen to be really exciting for me. After all I know how to write the application letter, the format that we should follow and how to ask for a job. For sure after this I will practice this in my real life. I definitely will start looking for a job and write them an application letter to them for the preparation before I graduating. In this application letter also I know how to promote myself in the appropriate way that everybody can accept it and do not think it some sort like show off. I hope I can learnt more in this class so that can improve my knowledge.

As we all know, answering myline question is compulsory to all students and some goes to me as well. Based on what I had learnt in doing myline, I think this is the best way to attract students study by online. From this myline, students can do practices that link to them and they also can give opinions based on the questions. The questions that were ask also match to their studies as well as to their daily life. Some of the question that had been ask about personality of the students when sitting on the interview. This type of question seen to become a big issues nowadays. So when students were approach to answer this question they actually were think about their self as well. ·       Get your job done and do it full-heartedly

·       You have to like and put in some interest in doing your job so that you are enjoying it and having fun while finishing the tasks given.

·       Build good rapport with all staffs and line managers because they will feel comfortable to meet you directly if they have any problems regarding the workplace and the environments. However, do not be too close with them as some of them might want to gain the company’s secrets from you.
