Reflection : Oral Portfolio

While we show our digital portfolio, we must give some of explanation on what about we want to present such as our profile, personality, education background, working experience or extra curriculum activities. We must present it in a short time that is 5 minute only. It is difficult to us to do it in a short time. Many of the students in my class are exceed the 5 minute. All of them present in a hurry because of the time. Besides, while presenting the portfolio, the voice of students must be loud because to not make the other felt boring. For me, it is very nervous and my sound not so clear because of my English not well. So, because of the carry mark, I do it my best and confidently. But it still not well enough but luckily my digital portfolio have attract the lecturer to give the high grade on that portfolio.

Refection : Blog

Lecturer had asked us to do a blog in order for student do their reflection on the task that was assigned by lecturer. Some of our reflections are assigned to do are about career plan, interview, digital portfolio, oral portfolio, job application letter, curriculum vitae (CV), MyLine and also this blog. It is very useful to us in future because maybe some of the reflection will guide us in apply the job or when we get a job someday. I am never creating a blog before this. When I have this blog, it feel different because with the availability of this blog I can give my opinion and reflection on the tasks assigned. Besides, I am also able to improve my writing skills and vocabulary, particularly in English.

Reflection : Curriculum Vitae

When it comes to applying for a job, the first step we have to take is to complete an attractive Curriculum Vitae (also known as CV or vita) in order to make the recruiter feel interested in you. Moreover, a CV, includes a summary of educational and academic backgrounds as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, and affiliations.  Besides, a curriculum vita is used primarily when applying for international, academic, education, scientific or research positions or when applying for fellowships or grants. For my class, lecturer told us to do in a simple way and just do it in a few pages. It is because, there are many applicants outside there applied for one job or position. So, our CV must be attractive with colorful paper and unique and maybe our CV will be chosen to be read.

Reflection : Job application letter

A job application letter also known as cover letter is the document that is attached with your CV when applying for a job. This document includes any additional information about the applicant but very briefly.  Furthermore, a job application letter should not be including any lengthy details about the applicant’s work history or education because these things are already there in the resume or CV. The cover letter is mostly submitted with the resume. Besides, the applicant must make sure that the employer first reads the cover letter then the CV or resume, so the letter should always come before the resume. To create the job application letter, we must refer to the job advertisement first.

Reflection : My Line

MyLinE is a good medium for students to learn English. For this semester, an assigned task is different from last semester. This time, we are tasked to answer two of the forum to give any comments or suggestions. It is very good for students because they can generate their ideas to a situation. Among the topics that I have the answer are about fresh graduate attitude during interview and personalities to impress boss. Share opinions in the forum is a great alternative for students because they can express what they feel is right and not right. For me, this MyLinE can help students improve their skills in using English. Moreover, MyLine activities also give many benefits to student in order to enrich the English in themselves.

Reflection : Digital Portfolio

For me, to create a digital portfolio is not easy. It should have the elements that attract the attention of the interviewer and make sure they like it with. For the first time I made a digital portfolio, I need help from my friends and lecturers. Digital portfolios can be made from a number of styles with flash player, video, blog, or Microsoft Power Point. At the outset I want to use power point, but I want to do something else other than using a flash player. It is indeed difficult to handle at the beginning is. Finally, I managed to also complete digital portfolio using this flash player. In the process of making a digital portfolio, that I have learn a lot of new things. I can develop my skills in using software like flash player, video or other. It was very interesting and I hope I can make a digital portfolio in the near future.

Reflection : Interview

We were given an assignment to interview. Interviews are one of the reasons cause students difficulty getting a job. This is because for an interview, we should have a lot of confidence and is always ready for every question. Furthermore, the lecturers were divided into two sessions of training sessions and the actual interview to scoring. In the first session, we were given directions to form several groups to make the interview process. It is to train students to become familiar with the interview process before the actual interview when we want to apply later work. During the interview process progresses, it is very difficult because of the lack of preparation. Nervousness often haunts me. Therefore, at the second session, I made the best of the previous session. I am more prepared and nervousness is always there. The answer must be unique and can attract the interest of interviewer to hear it. So, maybe we can get the job.

REFLECTION FOR CAREER PLAN

Name         : Muhammad Syafiq B. Ezanee
Matric No. : AH100124

On the previous English for career search class, we were assigned to present on career planning. It is very important because when we make plans, it will facilitate the career path in the future. Furthermore, with the career planning, I can be more aware and understand my future job description that I would apply later. I will also be able to know the qualifications needed for my job position depending on my career development phrases. To achieve my career plans that I created, I will be ready from now and plan my next move to achieve what I planned. Besides that, it is difficult for me to deliver my presentation in front of many people. So I take this as a challenge to improve my confidence level. Finally, my advice to everyone is to plan their career by identifying their personality, weakness and strength because it will help in achieving career goals.
